We are proud to acknowledge just a few of the many techniques offered here at Pequannock Chiropractic Group!

Dry Needling

A technique that uses a small sterile solid filament needle to treat trigger points. In order to understand dry needling, it is important to know a little bit about trigger points. These points can generally be thought of as tender points in a taut band of muscle that can cause local pain or referred pain. They can also cause movement dysfunction by not allowing a muscle to do its job properly. Trigger points can be caused by repetitive overuse, by a single over-exertion of a muscle, or by muscles trying to protect an injured or painful joint. Dry needling can be used to relax or deactivate trigger points in order to decrease the pain signals they are sending. Dry needling a trigger point can also return a muscle to its normal firing pattern and strength, which, in turn, can improve movement.

Active Release

A soft tissue movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscle.

Mechanical Traction

A a form of decompression therapy that relieves pressure on the spine. It can be performed manually or mechanically. Spinal tractions are used to treat herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, and many other back conditions.

Graston Technique

An innovative, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to detect and effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, as well as maintain optimal range of motion.

K-Laser Therapy

The use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal. Class IV K-Laser Therapy is an FDA cleared therapeutic treatment that manages pain and inflammation while accelerating tissue regeneration. This form of therapy also increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain.

Electric Stimulation Therapy

A therapeutic treatment that applies electrical stimulation in treating muscle spasms and pain. It can help prevent atrophy and build strength in patients with injuries. It is also helpful in keeping muscles active.

Ultrasound Therapy

This is used to minimize muscle pain and movement dysfunction. Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to deliver deep heat to the treated tissues. Ultrasound therapy may be used alone or in conjunction with stretching, therapeutic massage, heat, or gentle chiropractic manipulation.
